ASSOCIATE PASTOR JOB DESCRIPTION
REQUIREMENTS: Master of Divinity, ordained or to be ordained.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Senior Pastor
EVALUATION: Annual performance review by personnel committee.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Worship
Lead weekly contemporary worship ministry team planning meetings, and provide leadership for selection of music and other media. In partnership with the senior pastor help create a meaningful and energetic worship experience for the contemporary service. Lead weekly contemporary worship service. Preach a minimum of twice a month at the contemporary worship service. Participate in monthly traditional worship staff planning meetings. Preach at traditional worship service once every six to eight weeks. Assist senior pastor in leading the weekly traditional service.
Pastoral Care
In collaboration with the Senior Pastor and Elders, monitor the pastoral care needs of the congregation. Share responsibility with the Senior Pastor, Elders and Congregational Care committee for making home, nursing home, hospital visits, phone calls, notes etc, as appropriate. Make a minimum of 6-10 shut-in visits a month. Provide the sacrament of Holy Communion, if requested. Assess follow-up needs and communicate those needs to the Senior Pastor and the Elders. Share responsibility with the Senior Pastor and the Elders for on-call, crisis support. Communicate regularly with the Senior Pastor concerning all pastoral care contacts and meet regularly with the Senior Pastor and the Elders for mutual sharing of pastoral care needs and coordination of visitation.
Outreach
Be a resource person to aid our members in opportunities for ministry through service. Help coordinate weekly after school program provided by the church for Brown Academy. Organize and participate in annual mission trip. Continue to promote the Community Kitchen ministry and the Habitat for Humanity ministry. UTC College Ministry: Be a liaison to the “House” ministry. Help guide members into volunteer opportunities with the “House” ministry program.

Other Responsibilities
Attend and participate in the weekly staff team meeting & weekly staff lunch.
Provide appropriate oral and written communication to the congregation and public.
Attend appropriate committee meetings.
Attend yearly staff/elder retreats.
Represent FCC at Regional and General ministry levels as appropriate.
Provide leadership for teaching and study when appropriate

COMPENSATION: Full-time, salaried
